Why join this group?
Looking back, now I realize that I struggled far too long and far too much on my own when coping with my TBI. I was unable to connect and reach out when I needed it the most. Out of the struggle I developed the passion to bring people together so they do not have to struggle on their own.
No one should have to isolate and have to feel lonely when struggling with a highly sensitive nervous system. Navigating through these challenges is a hero’s journey and a spiritual path. We need companionship to walk that path. Everyone needs support, understanding and inspiration from others who can relate and are committed to making the most out of life the way it is now.
“Come as you are” to this online peer support group! Share what it is like for you. Build emotional connection with others who can relate and who also feel isolated. There is a gift in being forced to slow down when all becomes too much around us. It teaches us what really matters in life. Let us use this gift when being with each other!
I want this small online peer group gathering to be the highlight of your week regardless of how you might be feel! In the peer support group there will be 6-8 participants coming together in a weekly one hour conference call. This is not a group of “one size fits all” ! This is about an organic, alive, “in the moment” time together based on the needs of each group. Using each other as resources, we will be growing and learning together. It will uplift you, inspire you, give you hope and tools to move forward. We will draw out of each other our unique self.
Although online, it still will be lively, spontaneous in its approach. Creatively, I will guide you using my background as a body-centered psychotherapist and my personal experience of years recovering.
We will move, dance, paint, journal, meditate, integrate yoga and body-centered awareness exercises. Also using gestalt awareness practice, nature activities, art projects, writing, homework assignments and your own ideas. I will introduce a variety of tools towards self acceptance.
Using the mind, moving into the body, connecting with the heart and with each other.
